Hello! I am Katie Hafner.
I make rurally informed visionary folk-art from collage & paint, textiles and original writing. I like to learn how creativity works and often try to make visible the process of making within the project. I am interested in domestic holiness, archetypal nuance, femininity and the texture of time. My work is crafted with an intentional relationship to materials and I often source supplies second-hand. I have a homespun aesthetic, but I am a very serious and contemplative artist.
I unschool my three kids in a small house on a cul-de-sac adjacent to an abandoned ski resort. When not engaged with my kids or making art I like to chat with friends, do homemaking tasks, read novels, organize my closet and take long walks.
